BEAVERS: December 9 Session
sent December 6 Hi all,
There is a Beaver group in England that has reached out to us as they work towards their Friendship Badge (we don’t have badges in Beavers in Canada). They have shared some information with us about Beavers in England and we will prepare something on Monday to send back. I have attached the information they shared. We will read it / share it with the children on Monday night as well as learn about England & the UK. I have chosen a few photos to share with the Beavers in England from the various activities we have done this year, however, I would love to include different ones. If you have any photos and / or video and you are willing to share, can you send them along to me? If you have a lot, I will give you access to my google drive and you can upload them there, just let me know. If you could share before Sunday so I have time to have prints done, that would be ideal. Please do not forget indoor shoes!! No outside boots or shoes in the gym please. Also, this is the last call for Ottawa 67’s tickets. Cost is $11.30 each and game day is January 19. Payment must be remitted by Monday, December 9. See you all on Monday!! Cheers,

re: BEAVERS: November 25
sent: November 25 Hi all, We have had two more children show an interest in becoming beavers and one or both may join us tonight bringing our "required" numbers to 17 people. This means that we have room for only 8 additional "guests". For those of you who have emailed me, I understand and I will do my best to accommodate everyone but in the end this may not be possible. If you cannot make it tonight, please email / text / call me at any time so that we can accommodate additional parents should the need arise. Don't forget our start time is 630pm at the Firestation on Teron Road. Many thanks to everyone for your understanding. Cheers, |

BEAVERS: November 18 Session
Hello all, Tomorrow we will be trying out a new Scouting science themed night. 1st Kanata Beavers were chosen to pilot the Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) program being developed by Scouts with funds received from Imperial Oil foundation & ExxonMobil Canada (http://www.scouts.ca/ca/news/scouts-canada-partner-imperial-oil-foundation-and-exxonmobil-canada-help-develop-canada%E2%80%99s-futur). We will be meeting at our usual time of 6pm at Stephen Leacock Public School. We will be learning about the science of sound. The session is titled “Sound of an Orchestra”. At the end, we will try and ask the Beavers some review questions about the session such as “what did they like” and “what did they not like” about the session. As part of the pilot we need to provide feedback on the sessions to Scouts Canada. If after the session, your child provides feedback to you, like in the car on the way home (I know Connor does this often!!), feel free to drop me an email or a quick call. The leaders of course will be providing feedback as well. All input, including yours is welcome. Finally, we will be doing closing a little early as I have a few items that need to be handed out. REMINDERS:
Looking forward to a fun-filled science evening!! Cheers, Bubbles Upcoming events: November 25: Tour of Teron road Fire Station NOTE: Start time is 6:30pm; December 2: Learning about Beavers in other countries (see “A” Colony web site for details) December 9: STEM Module Magnets December 16: Christmas Party (last session until Jan 6) |

Beavers: November 11 Meeting
sent November 7, 2013 Hi all, |
Beavers: November 4
Hi all, First, I want to thank Grace Lee (Remi’s Mom) for the yummy cookies and Janet Mallette (Zakk’s mom) for the chips! I think our Halloween was a lot of fun! Tomorrow we are going to be cleaning Craig Park with the Lynx Cub Pack. The cub pack will join us at 6:30pm, so instead of having part of our meeting indoors, we will meet at the school and walk to the park at our start time of 6pm. We will do a scavenger hunt and then when the cubs arrive, we will clean the park. Since it will be dark-ish, we're just doing a quick walk-around looking for litter. Please dress for the weather and please bring a flashlight. We will not be collecting dues for this meeting. Next few meetings: November
11: special guest: L.Col Peter Saunders Don’t forget about our web site. http://acolony.1stkanatascouts.org/ See you all tomorrow. Louise
